The Moon as Inspiration, Ceramic as Perfection
In 1968, the Apollo 8 astronauts became the first humans to witness the far side of the Moon. On their wrists was the Omega Speedmaster — a companion that cemented its place in history.
More than fifty years later, Omega revisits that legacy with a fresh generation of Dark Side of the Moon watches, redesigned for 2025.
The collection features seven references across four design families, all crafted from advanced ceramic and equipped with the latest Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres.
While maintaining the signature 44.25 mm case, a re-engineered structure makes each watch thinner, lighter and more refined. Polished ceramic bezels, laser-engraved dials and Liquidmetal detailing create a unique depth and brilliance.
Grey Side of the Moon: A Quote Etched in Time
A standout piece is the Omega Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon, inspired by astronaut Jim Lovell’s iconic words: “The Moon is essentially grey.”
Its skeletonised dial reveals a laser-etched lunar landscape — the near side on the front, the far side engraved on the caseback. Inside beats the manual-winding Co-Axial Calibre 3869, fusing the soul of the original Moonwatch with modern precision.
Four Personalities, One Celestial Heritage
Omega divides the new Dark Side of the Moon line into four distinct expressions, each reflecting a facet of lunar exploration:
- Dark-Red Edition: The sportiest model. Its matte black ceramic case and red chronograph hands deliver striking contrast. The Calibre 9908, with arabesque Geneva waves and a blackened rotor, evokes the first light of lunar dawn through Super-LumiNova highlights.
- Dark-White Edition: The most elegant of the series. It combines black ceramic with 18-karat white-gold details, achieving perfect harmony between refinement and innovation. Powered by the automatic Calibre 9900, certified Master Chronometer, it offers over 60 hours of power reserve.
- Dark-Dark Edition: The most minimalist interpretation, entirely black. Sandblasted ceramic, darkened indices and black Super-LumiNova give it a stealth, contemporary aesthetic.
A Tactile Connection to Space
Each model is offered with newly developed rubber or nylon straps, featuring a lunar-surface texture on the underside — a tangible reminder of mankind’s enduring connection to the Moon.
